APAPA CUSTOMS GENERATES ₦302.9BN IN OCTOBER, UP 7.13 PER CENT

November 07, 2026

The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has generated ₦302.9 billion in revenue in October 2026, representing a 7.13 per cent increase from the ₦282.79 billion recorded in September.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Isah Sulaiman, disclosed this in a statement, attributing the growth to sustained efforts to improve revenue generation and facilitate legitimate trade.

The statement also credited the performance to the leadership of the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Murtala Mu’azu, who assumed duty on September 29, 2026.

Since taking over, Mu’azu has focused on the Customs Service’s policy thrust of Consolidation, Collaboration and Innovation, with particular attention to challenges affecting port users.

As part of the effort, the Command held a stakeholder meeting involving importers, exporters, licensed customs agents, shipping companies and terminal operators to address delays in Demand Notices, cargo clearance bottlenecks and other operational challenges.

The Command has also intensified efforts to streamline Transire processing, reduce bureaucratic delays and improve coordination between departments, while maintaining compliance and control measures.
