ASUU Kaduna Suspends Strike After Governor’s Intervention

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Kaduna State University (KASU) branch, has suspended its indefinite strike, which began last Tuesday over unresolved issues with the university management dating back to 2009 and 2017.

The strike was called off on Sunday after the intervention of Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani. According to Dr Peter Adamu, ASUU KASU Chairman, the state government showed goodwill by immediately releasing funds to settle 60% of September 2017 withheld salaries and SIWES supervision allowances for five sessions.

ASUU had initially embarked on the strike to demand the fulfilment of agreements with the university management. However, with the governor’s intervention and partial resolution of the grievances, the union has agreed to return to work while further engagements continue.
