Court Rejects Emefiele’s Request for Judge’s Recusal

An Ikeja Special Offences Court has rejected an application seeking the recusal of Justice Rahman Oshodi from the trial of former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

Delivering his ruling yesterday, Justice Oshodi dismissed the oral application by Emefiele’s defence team, stating that their claims of bias were unsubstantiated. He cited Supreme Court precedents, affirming that no valid reason had been presented to justify his withdrawal from the case.

The embattled former CBN governor is facing charges related to alleged financial misconduct, with his legal team exploring multiple legal avenues to challenge the proceedings.
