The Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, has struck out the defamation suit filed against human rights activist and lawyer, Dele Farotimi, by the Nigeria Police Force.
The decision followed an application for withdrawal by the prosecutor, Martins Akala, an officer in charge of Legal Affairs at the State Police Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
This ruling comes after the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti Division, had earlier on January 29, 2025, also struck out cyberbullying and defamation charges against Farotimi, following a similar withdrawal application by the police.
