The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has called on Nigerians to acquire basic combat skills as a safeguard against rising insecurity across the country.
In an interview on Thursday, General Musa compared martial arts training—such as Karate, Taekwondo, and Judo—to essential survival skills like swimming and driving, stressing their importance for personal safety.
He also recommended that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) integrate unarmed combat training into its programme, saying it would better prepare Nigerian graduates to protect themselves from criminal threats in their daily lives.
