The Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado-Ekiti has received approval from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to commence non-scheduled flight operations from December 15, 2024. The approval allows flights to operate under Visual Flight Rules for an initial period of six months, ending on June 15, 2025.
The NCAA conveyed this decision in a letter dated December 11, 2024, addressed to Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji. The letter, signed by the NCAA’s Acting Director General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, was in response to the state government’s application for a flight operational permit for the airport.
This milestone is expected to bolster agricultural exports and enhance the economic profile of Ekiti State. Governor Oyebanji has expressed optimism that the airport’s operations will attract investments and create new opportunities for the state’s agro-allied sector.
