The Ekiti State Government has reassured residents of their safety during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, with measures in place to protect lives and properties. Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, urged citizens to report suspicious activities to enhance security efforts. He emphasised that vigilance is crucial for maintaining peace, while also highlighting the need for residents to take ownership of public infrastructure to prevent vandalism and bushfires, particularly during the dry season.
In addition to its security measures, the state is making significant strides in development. Over 3,000 hectares have been cleared for mechanised farming, with the 2025 budget heavily focused on agriculture and youth empowerment. Communities previously disconnected from the national grid have been reconnected, boosting economic activities in areas like Omuo and Gbonyin/Ayekire LG.
Furthermore, the state has addressed flooding through proactive measures such as dredging and desilting, while also expanding power access through the Independent Power Project (IPP) to key institutions.Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun noted the government’s success in resolving minimum wage issues, enhancing worker satisfaction, and supporting MSMEs to foster growth. He affirmed the administration’s commitment to accelerating development while urging stakeholders to contribute to the shared vision of progress. These efforts, he assured, demonstrate the government’s resolve to improve living standards across Ekiti State.
