Ekiti Government Rallies Support Against Plastic Pollution on World Environment Day

As the global community marked the 2025 World Environment Day, the Ekiti State Government reaffirmed its commitment to implementing policies that foster a healthier and more sustainable environment. The state aligned with this year’s theme, “Ending Plastic Pollution”, which calls attention to the urgent need to address the harmful effects of plastic waste on the planet.

To drive awareness, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe, led a public campaign in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. The event featured a vibrant road show designed to educate residents on the environmental, health, and economic threats posed by plastic pollution, and to promote sustainable alternatives.

Throughout the campaign, stakeholders actively engaged with the public at key locations, urging citizens to embrace responsible waste management and adopt eco-friendly habits. The initiative highlighted the state government’s proactive stance on environmental preservation and its role in global climate action.
