Ekiti Government Warns Against Building in Flood-Prone Areas

The Ekiti State Government has cautioned residents against constructing buildings in flood-prone areas, warning of the risks associated with flooding.

Chairman of the Ekiti State Environmental Protection and Watershed Management Agency (EKSEPWAMA), Bamitale Oguntoyinbo, gave the advice during an inspection tour of dredging projects at the Inisa, Amutu, Oke Ose, and Mayan rivers in Moba Local Government.

Oguntoyinbo commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration for prioritising flood prevention and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents. He urged the public to support government efforts by avoiding illegal structures along waterways and properly disposing of waste to prevent blockages that could lead to flooding.
