Ekiti Governor Disburses ₦140 Million to Youth Farmers

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has disbursed ₦140 million to youths engaged in commercial agriculture as proceeds from the first batch of their harvest. The young farmers, drawn from six farm clusters across the state, are part of the “Bring Back the Youth in Agriculture” programme, a collaborative initiative between the state government and YSJ Farms Limited.

During a cheque presentation ceremony held at Osuntokun Pavilion, Government House, Ado-Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji highlighted the critical role of agriculture in addressing widespread food shortages experienced in Nigeria and globally this year. He praised the youth for their dedication and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting innovative agricultural programmes to boost food security and economic growth.

The governor urged more young people to embrace farming, assuring them of government support through capacity building and financial incentives. He expressed optimism that such initiatives would not only tackle food insecurity but also reduce unemployment and promote sustainable development in the state.
