The Ekiti State Government has met with Islamic leaders to ease tensions following the alleged demolition of a mosque in Aramoko, Ekiti West Local Government Area. The government promised to intervene and resolve the crisis in the interest of peace, unity, and justice.
Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, gave the assurance during a meeting with members of the Muslim community, led by the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA). The interface was aimed at pacifying aggrieved adherents and finding lasting solutions to the crisis.
The mosque in question was reportedly demolished to pave the way for the construction of an ultra-modern market. The market is a constituency project of the Senate Leader and Senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Opeyemi Bamidele.
