The Ekiti State Government has celebrated the victory of Team Savvy—a trio of young tech innovators from the state—at the HarabiPay Squad Hackathon 2.0, where they won the grand prize of ₦5 million with their fintech solution, Splitwise.
The Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Digital Economy, Mr. Seun Fakuade, attributed their success to the mentorship and training they received at the Ekiti State Startup Garage. He described the team—Favour Adebayo, Covenant Adeosun, and Samuel Adeyemi—as proof of the creative talent and innovation potential in Ekiti’s youth.
Fakuade noted that Adebayo was discovered in October 2023 at Government College, Ado-Ekiti, and later spotlighted at the first Ekiti Innovation Summit, which connected him to industry mentors and earned him an internship with Cybernetiq at the Startup Garage.
The commissioner said the state will continue to empower young innovators with skills needed for the global digital economy. He reaffirmed Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to youth development and technology-driven progress in Ekiti.
