The Ekiti State Government on Tuesday achieved a major milestone with the official commencement of scheduled commercial flights at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Airport. This marks a new chapter in the state’s transportation and economic development efforts.
The inauguration ceremony drew notable dignitaries, including the Honourable Minister of Aviation—represented by the Permanent Secretary—former Governors Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Ayodele Fayose, Niyi Adebayo, and Segun Oni, as well as members of the National Assembly. The event also had in attendance Dr. Obiorah Okonkwo, Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, which is operating the new flight service.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji, in his remarks, described the launch as a significant boost to Ekiti’s economic prospects. He noted that the commencement of commercial flights will expand business opportunities, improve government travel efficiency, and open the state to increased investment, tourism activities, and agro-export potential.
