Ekiti State Government Approves N12bn For Road, Housing, And Agriculture Projects

The Ekiti State Government has approved projects worth over N12 billion to boost infrastructure and agriculture in the state. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday after the State Executive Council meeting in Ado Ekiti. He said the council awarded a N7.3 billion contract for the rehabilitation of the Ikogosi–Ipole–Efon Alaaye Road, which is expected to ease residents’ hardship, enhance socio-economic activities, and improve security. The 24-month project will cover earthworks, construction of drains, pavement, and laying of asphalt.

Olatunbosun further announced the approval of N3.87 billion for the construction of aviation staff quarters at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, Ado Ekiti. The project, to be executed by Messrs CCECC Nigeria Limited within four months, will comprise 40 residential units, car parks, and an incinerator for solid waste management. The staff quarters are designed to improve airport operations, enhance security, and cut transit time for aviation workers.

In addition, the council approved N638.38 million for furniture and equipment in the newly built dormitories under the “Bring Back Our Youths to Agriculture” programme. Olatunbosun explained that the provision was aimed at making the residences fully habitable for participants in the scheme, which seeks to promote youth engagement in agriculture across the state.
