EKITI URGES CALM, STRENGTHENS EBOLA PREPAREDNESS
October 23, 2026
The Ekiti State Government has urged residents to remain calm and vigilant following Nigeria’s confirmation of an Ebola case in the Federal Capital Territory involving a woman who recently arrived from Uganda.
Health authorities have identified 44 close contacts and commenced contact tracing to prevent further spread of the disease.
The state government said it had strengthened preparedness through public awareness campaigns, healthcare worker training, intensified surveillance and the stockpiling of protective equipment.
Residents were advised to practise regular hand hygiene, avoid contact with the bodily fluids of suspected cases and promptly report symptoms such as fever, severe weakness, headache, vomiting and diarrhoea, particularly after possible exposure.
The government also urged the public to avoid spreading rumours and cooperate with health authorities to help prevent further transmission.
