The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Ekiti State has confirmed that workers in the state will not join the nationwide strike slated for Monday. This follows the state government’s approval of the ₦70,000 minimum wage and submission of necessary implementation documents to the NLC’s national headquarters.
NLC Chairman Kolapo Olatunde commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s proactive measures, which include a detailed implementation template covering all worker categories, including pensioners. He assured that the new minimum wage adjustments would commence shortly.
NLC Secretary Dr. Israel Taiwo corroborated this, noting the national headquarters had cleared Ekiti from the strike after reviewing the submitted agreement. He urged the government to expedite implementation for workers’ benefit.
