Fayemi Urges National Unity, Compassion in Eid al-Adha Message

Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former Governor of Ekiti State and past Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, has extended warm Eid al-Adha greetings to Muslims across Nigeria. In a statement issued by his Media Office, Fayemi highlighted the significance of the festival as a time for reflection, gratitude, and commitment to Islamic values. He stressed the importance of sacrifice, charity, and mutual responsibility, calling on Nigerians to celebrate with moderation and empathy given the current economic challenges many families face.

Fayemi emphasized that the true essence of Eid lies not in lavish celebrations but in acts of kindness, sharing with the less privileged, and fostering brotherhood. He urged Muslims and all Nigerians to be mindful of those struggling during these hard times and to embrace the season with compassion and humility. By showing concern for others and upholding community values, he noted, citizens can contribute to healing and strengthening the nation.

Addressing the broader national context, Fayemi acknowledged the economic and security difficulties confronting Nigeria but expressed hope in the resilience of its people. He praised the country’s youthful population, cultural diversity, and innovative spirit as essential building blocks for a better future. Urging collective introspection, he called on Nigerians of all faiths to use the Sallah season as a moment to reaffirm unity and shared aspirations for peace, good governance, and national development.
