The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land allocation for the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national secretariat in Abuja due to unpaid ground rents spanning two decades. The revocation, dated March 13, 2025, was conveyed in a letter signed by the Director of Land Administration, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, citing non-payment from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025.
The letter highlighted that the PDP’s failure to settle these dues contravened the terms of the land grant, leading to the enforcement of the revocation under the Land Use Act No. 6 of 1978. Despite multiple notifications through national media since 2023, the party did not address the outstanding payments. Consequently, the FCT Administration has taken immediate possession of the property.
This action is part of a broader initiative by the FCT Administration to enforce compliance with land tenure regulations, which has resulted in the revocation of over 4,700 land titles in Abuja over outstanding payments.
