The Federal Government has imposed a ban on Nigerian military personnel engaging in homosexuality, bestiality, cross-dressing, and other behaviours that violate the revised Harmonised Armed Forces Terms and Conditions of Service (HAFCTCS). This directive is part of the newly updated HAFCTCS 2024, signed by President Bola Tinubu on December 16, 2024.
The revised terms also prohibit body piercing, tattooing, drunkenness, disorderly conduct, and various forms of public misconduct among military personnel. These measures aim to uphold the values and discipline expected within the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The new regulations are designed to reinforce discipline, ensure professional conduct, and maintain the integrity of the military. By addressing these behaviours, the government seeks to foster a more disciplined and orderly environment within the armed forces.
