The Federal Government has taken steps to close the gap in undetected tuberculosis cases across Nigeria with the introduction of new diagnostic machines and X-ray equipment. On Thursday, the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, commissioned the facilities at the Dutsen Makaranta Primary Healthcare Centre in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The AI-powered Rapid Molecular Diagnostic Machine is designed to deliver timely, accurate, and accessible TB diagnosis to communities. Officials say the technology will enhance early detection and treatment, ultimately reducing the spread of the disease.
Represented by the wife of Kwara State Governor, Dr. Olufunke Abdulrazaq, Mrs. Tinubu said the provision of the equipment was part of her pledge to support the fight against TB. She noted that her Renewed Hope Initiative had already donated an additional N1 billion to boost nationwide tuberculosis control efforts.
