FG to Arraign Five Suspects in Owo Church Massacre

The Federal Government is set to arraign five suspected terrorists in connection with the June 5, 2022 attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, where scores of worshippers lost their lives. The suspects will face trial before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The accused — Idris Omeiza, Al Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, Abdulhaleem Idris, and Momoh Otuho Abubakar — were brought into the courtroom around 9:05 a.m. under tight security by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS). Their alleged involvement in the deadly assault has drawn significant public attention.

According to reports, the case is being prosecuted by the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) on behalf of the Federal Government. The trial is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding one of the deadliest church attacks in Nigeria’s recent history.
