The Federal Government, through the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, has announced plans to distribute N32.7 billion to vulnerable groups across the country. The initiative aims to alleviate poverty and boost food production.
Speaking over the weekend during the launch of the State Durable Solution Action Plan for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Makurdi, Benue State, Yilwatda revealed that 300 to 400 individuals in the state would benefit from interest-free household loans. The funds are intended to support agricultural expansion and strengthen food supply chains.
The programme underscores the government’s commitment to addressing challenges faced by vulnerable populations, particularly in rural areas, by promoting sustainable livelihoods through agriculture.
