The Federal Government has called on cement manufacturers to immediately lower the price of cement to ₦7,000 per bag, citing economic improvements.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, made this appeal on February 26, 2025, during a meeting with MTN and RCC Company Nig. Ltd over the slow funding and execution of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
In a statement on the ministry’s website, Umahi stressed the critical role of cement in the construction industry, particularly for Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavements. He argued that with the stabilisation of the naira at about ₦1,400 per dollar and a drop in petrol prices, cement manufacturers should adjust their prices accordingly.
