Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has been recognized as a leading advocate for disability inclusion in Nigeria. The Nigeria Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) bestowed this honor during its 36th annual conference, which commenced in Ado-Ekiti. The association praised the governor for his consistent efforts in promoting inclusive education and supporting persons with disabilities (PWDs).
At the opening session of the conference, themed “Transformative Solutions and Inclusive Education for Learners with Disabilities”, Governor Oyebanji was conferred with the prestigious title of NASET Fellow. The recognition highlighted his administration’s groundbreaking initiatives and policies aimed at integrating disability inclusion into the fabric of governance and education in Ekiti State.
NASET’s National President, Dr. Catherine James Atteng, lauded Governor Oyebanji for embedding inclusivity into state policy. She noted that his leadership has amplified the voices of PWDs and positioned Ekiti as a benchmark for disability inclusion across the country. His achievements, she emphasized, have made the state a national model for inclusive governance.
