Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has presented compensation cheques totaling N146 million to 46 landowners in Oke Ako, whose lands were acquired for a commercial agriculture project. The initiative, a collaboration with YSP Farms, aims to develop 4,000 hectares for young farmers as part of the “Bring Back the Youth in Agriculture” program.
The Governor highlighted the economic potential of the project in boosting agribusiness, creating jobs, and transforming the community. He assured the landowners that further compensation would be provided in the coming months for other affected properties, emphasizing the long-term benefits of large-scale farming, including infrastructure development and job creation.
Oyebanji praised the Oke Ako community’s cooperation and the positive impact of the scheme in reducing crime by cultivating areas that were once hideouts. The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating a supportive environment for agriculture and empowering the youth.
