The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally commenced the process for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election. The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, announced this during a stakeholders’ meeting with political parties on Wednesday, marking the official kick-off of election activities.
Dr. Omoseyindemi assured all parties of INEC’s unwavering commitment to conducting the election in line with the highest standards of transparency, fairness, and credibility. He emphasized that the electoral body is determined to ensure free and fair processes before, during, and after the polls.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner explained that the notice of election is in full compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, which stipulates that INEC must issue such notice at least 360 days before the scheduled election date.
