At least 20 Palestinians, including children, have been killed in a powerful Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the Shujayea district of eastern Gaza City, with several others feared buried under the rubble. Dozens more were wounded in the attack, which comes amid ongoing Israeli bombardments across the enclave.
According to medical charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF), an Israeli strike also hit near its clinic in the al-Mawasi area—designated by Israel as a “safe zone.” The continued targeting of civilian areas has drawn international concern over the safety of medical and humanitarian facilities in Gaza.
Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that at least 50,810 Palestinians have been confirmed dead, with over 115,688 wounded since the war began. The Government Media Office places the actual death toll at more than 61,700, including those still missing under the rubble. On the Israeli side, at least 1,139 people were killed and over 200 taken captive during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023.
