Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has officially taken office as the 24th Chief of Army Staff (COAS), weeks after his appointment was confirmed by both chambers of the National Assembly. The ceremony marking his assumption of command took place on Monday at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.
In his inaugural address to Principal Staff Officers, following the Regimental Quarter Guard ceremony, Oluyede emphasised the importance of unity and innovation in strengthening the Nigerian Army. He promised an inclusive leadership approach, which he believes will foster collaboration and enhance the Army’s efforts in combating insecurity across the nation.
The new COAS outlined his vision to lead the Army toward greater efficiency and adaptability in addressing contemporary security challenges. He urged all personnel to remain committed to their duties, stressing that their collective effort would be pivotal to achieving sustained peace and stability in Nigeria.
