NANS Threatens to Shut FUOYE Over Sexual Harassment Allegations Against VC

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has threatened to shut down the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) over allegations of sexual harassment and extortion levelled against the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina. The VC is accused of making inappropriate advances toward Engr. Folasade Adebayo, a married deputy director in the university’s Directorate of Works and Services.

However, Prof. Fasina’s legal representatives, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa and Co, have dismissed the allegations as baseless, calling for an end to what they described as unsubstantiated accusations. They urged the public to rely on accurate information rather than false narratives surrounding the case.

In a statement, NANS Senate President, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde, demanded that the university’s Governing Council suspend the VC before the upcoming convocation. He warned that failure to do so would prompt a nationwide student mobilisation to shut down the institution on convocation day in protest, stressing that the allegations undermine the ethical standards expected of an academic leader.
