Nigeria Customs Service Targets N6.58 Trillion Revenue for 2025

The Federal Government has set an ambitious revenue target of N6.58 trillion for the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in 2025. This move underscores the government’s commitment to boosting revenue through improved customs operations and enforcement. The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, announced this target, emphasizing the agency’s pivotal role in enhancing Nigeria’s fiscal capacity.

In a remarkable achievement, the NCS surpassed its 2024 revenue target, collecting a record N6.11 trillion. This impressive figure exceeded the projected N5.08 trillion by N1.03 trillion, marking a 20.2% increase above the initial target. The CGC credited this success to enhanced operational efficiency, stricter enforcement measures, and the diligent efforts of customs officers nationwide.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly Joint Committee on Finance has revised the revenue projections for the NCS, raising the proposed target from N6.5 trillion to an ambitious N12 trillion for the 2025 appropriation bill. This substantial increase reflects the legislature’s confidence in the NCS’s ability to drive higher revenue and contribute significantly to the nation’s economic growth.
