North Korea launched a ballistic missile on Monday, according to South Korea’s military, coinciding with high-level meetings between the top US diplomat and South Korean officials in Seoul. The missile was fired towards the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan, raising regional tensions.
The launch occurred as outgoing US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was in discussions with his South Korean counterpart and the acting president. Blinken is set to continue his diplomatic tour with a visit to Japan, amid ongoing concerns over North Korea’s missile activities.
