Ogoga of Ikere Inaugurated as Chairman, Ekiti Traditional Council

The Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, HRM Oba Adu Adejimi Alagbado, has been sworn in as the 13th Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers by Governor Biodun Oyebanji. The inauguration ceremony, held on Wednesday at the Traditional Council chambers in Ado Ekiti, saw the governor tasking the new chairman with promoting integrity, unity, and mutual respect among traditional rulers in the state.

Governor Oyebanji described Oba Alagbado as a seasoned and highly respected monarch whose contributions to peace and development in Ikere-Ekiti and beyond are well recognized. Expressing confidence in his leadership, the governor said the monarch is well-positioned to steer the council toward greater harmony and effectiveness in its role.

The governor noted that the council comprises 86 royal fathers—66 permanent members and 20 rotational members—drawn from communities across the state. Over the next two years, the council will advise on chieftaincy matters, customary law, and other issues as referred by the government. He emphasized the pivotal role of traditional rulers in cultural preservation, grassroots governance, and peacebuilding, stating that their proximity to the people makes them invaluable partners in policy implementation and community development.
