Omowunmi, widow of the late Nigerian music sensation Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, left attendees deeply moved with a heartfelt tribute at the 17th Headies Awards, held on Sunday, April 27, at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos.
Mohbad was honoured posthumously with two major awards: Best Street Music (Street-hop Artiste) of the Year and the Viewer’s Choice award for his collaboration with Chike on the hit track Egwu.
Receiving the awards on his behalf, Omowunmi delivered a stirring speech, stating that she chooses not to call Mohbad her “late husband” because, for her, he remains alive—especially through their young son, Liam, and the enduring legacy of his music.
