Despite warnings from the federal government and the police, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Monday, swore in the newly elected local government chairmen, who in turn inaugurated their councillors across the state.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum hailed the conduct of the local government elections, stating that the process was a demonstration of true democracy, where power resides with the people.
In a related development, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, cautioned the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun against escalating tensions, warning against actions that could turn the state into a repeat of the Second Republic’s “Wild Wild West” crisis.
