Osun Reps Urge Tinubu to Release Withheld LG Funds

Members of the Osun State Caucus in the House of Representatives have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to urgently order the release of the withheld federal allocations meant for the 30 Local Government Councils in Osun State. They described the delay as unconstitutional and damaging to grassroots governance.

Their demand was outlined in an open letter signed by eight lawmakers elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with the exception of Hon. Wole Oke, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The letter expressed the lawmakers’ unified concern over what they termed a blatant breach of the Nigerian Constitution.

The legislators argued that the continued withholding of local government funds not only hampers development at the grassroots but also contradicts the principles of true federalism that President Tinubu has long advocated. They urged the President to act without further delay to uphold the rule of law and ensure that democratic institutions function effectively across all tiers of government.
