Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has been honoured as a University of Ibadan @75 Ambassador in recognition of his exemplary leadership and contributions to education, governance, and national development. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, conferred the title during a ceremony at the Executive Council Chamber in Ado-Ekiti on Monday. He commended the governor for his reforms in education and infrastructure, which have positively impacted Ekiti State and Nigeria.
Governor Oyebanji expressed gratitude to the university for the recognition, attributing the achievement to the collective effort of his administration and the people of Ekiti State. A proud alumnus of the university, Oyebanji highlighted his family’s deep connections with the institution, noting that his father, wife, and children are also graduates. He pledged to uphold the university’s legacy and continue fostering collaborations with institutions to enhance education and innovation.
The event was graced by top officials, including Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, and members of the state’s executive council. Also in attendance were members of the University of Ibadan management team and over 15 alumni holding senior positions in Ekiti State. Governor Oyebanji promised to honour the responsibilities of his new role and continue contributing to sustainable educational development in Nigeria.
