Governor Biodun Oyebanji has urged Ekiti residents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election. Speaking at a rally in Ikere-Ekiti, he welcomed former PDP candidate Henrich Akomolafe and his supporters into the APC. Oyebanji said a second term for Tinubu would boost development in Ekiti and Nigeria. He called for at least 600,000 votes for the president, saying less would not reflect the state’s support.
Former Governor Dr. Peter Ayodele Fayose also attended and pledged his backing for Oyebanji and Tinubu. While remaining in the PDP, Fayose said he would mobilise voters for their victories. He described Oyebanji as a unifying governor and said the president has strong support in Ekiti. Fayose urged peaceful campaigns and said votes, not violence, should decide the outcome.
Oyebanji praised Akomolafe for his grassroots influence and assured him full access to APC structures. He said the party welcomes capable individuals, regardless of political history. The rally included the Deputy Governor, the Speaker of the House, commissioners, and local leaders, as APC strengthens support ahead of the elections.
