Oyebanji Lauds Fayemi’s Legacy at 60th Birthday Symposium

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has praised former Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi for extending his progressive ideals beyond personal ambitions, nurturing mentees, and empowering others to excel in various capacities.

Governor Oyebanji made this commendation at a symposium and the launch of the Amandla Leadership Institute in Abuja, marking Fayemi’s 60th birthday. He was joined by top government officials, including members of the Ekiti State Executive Council.

The event also featured remarks from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima), former South African President Thabo Mbeki, and former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon. In their speeches, they emphasised the importance of leadership beyond politics, urging individuals to take active roles in policymaking, technology, and other critical sectors.

Describing Fayemi as a “global scholar, politician, innovator, and pro-democracy activist,” Governor Oyebanji highlighted his contributions to Ekiti State, Nigeria, and the global political landscape. He commended the former governor’s dedication to governance, intellectual engagement, and leadership development, which continue to shape future generations.

The launch of the Amandla Leadership Institute further cemented Fayemi’s commitment to leadership training, policy development, and democratic governance, reinforcing his impact beyond his tenure in public office.
