OYEBANJI PROJECTS EKITI GDP TO HIT N8.8TN
October 14, 2026
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, says the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is projected to rise to 8.8 trillion naira from 4.6 trillion naira in 2023.
Oyebanji disclosed this while highlighting his administration’s economic performance, noting that trade and agriculture account for 60 per cent of the state’s economy. He added that Ekiti’s contribution to Nigeria’s GDP had increased from 1.3 to 1.6 per cent.
The governor said the state’s internally generated revenue rose from 8.7 billion naira in 2022 to 27.1 billion naira in 2025, with cumulative revenue reaching 88.4 billion naira over four years. He attributed the increase to tax reforms, digitalisation and an expanded tax base.
Oyebanji also claimed that Ekiti has Nigeria’s lowest food inflation rate, attributing this to agricultural initiatives and outlets selling locally produced rice, beans and garri at affordable prices.
He said his administration would continue to prioritise agriculture, trade, investment and industrialisation to expand the state’s economy.
