Oyebanji Reaffirms Commitment to Food Security with New Storage and Distribution Hubs

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to ensuring food security through an efficient food storage and distribution system across the state. Speaking during the commissioning of the ‘Ounje Ekiti Retail Outlet’ and “Ilu Eye Aggregation Hub” in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, the governor emphasized his government’s drive to guarantee year-round availability and access to major food items for residents.

He stated that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate to tackle hunger and poverty, noting that his administration is focused on ensuring that the bulk of food consumed in Ekiti is locally produced. According to the governor, this strategy aims to not only boost food sufficiency but also drive down the cost of food in the state.

Governor Oyebanji revealed that over N50 billion has been invested in agribusiness since the inception of his administration. He said the overarching goal is to transform Ekiti into the food basket of the nation by building a sustainable food supply chain that enhances both production and accessibility of affordable food commodities.
