Oyebanji Urges Residents to Patronise Government Hospitals

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has called on residents to utilise government hospitals for their healthcare needs, emphasising the need to justify the state’s massive investment in renovating and equipping hospitals.

Speaking on Tuesday while receiving a delegation from Ifaki Ekiti, led by former Governor Chief Segun Oni, Governor Oyebanji revealed that his administration is currently renovating nine General Hospitals with modern equipment and improved manpower to ensure quality and affordable healthcare for all.

In response to a request for the upgrade of Ifaki General Hospital to a specialist facility, the Governor stated that hospital upgrades would be determined by patronage levels. He urged communities to take ownership of their healthcare facilities by encouraging residents to use them, ensuring that government investments are fully utilised.

The delegation, which included Oba Adegbenro Falore, the Olufaki of Ifaki Ekiti, and Alhaji Olanrewaju Bakare, President of Ifaki Progressive Union, expressed gratitude for the development projects already carried out in their community.

Governor Oyebanji reassured the people of Ifaki that his administration would soon implement major interventions in electricity supply, pipe-borne water, road rehabilitation, and erosion control. He highlighted ongoing efforts to complete the 132/133 substation in Ilupeju and Ijesa Isu, which will provide a permanent solution to power supply issues in the area.

Chief Segun Oni, in his remarks, praised the Governor for fostering peace and unity among Ekiti’s political and community leaders. He also urged the government to prioritise the Ifaki–Esure road in its infrastructural plans.

Key government officials present at the meeting included the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, Chief of Staff, Mr Oyeniyi Adebayo, Special Adviser on Political Matters, Chief Jide Awe, Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebanji, and Director General of Community Communication, Mrs Mary Oso Omotosho.
