Some pan-Yoruba groups, under the banner of the Alliance for Yoruba Democratic Movements (AYDM), have endorsed Ekiti State Governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, for a second term in office. The Ekiti governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026. The groups described Oyebanji as a beacon of hope for the state, praising his strong commitment to regional integration.
The endorsement followed a stakeholders’ meeting held in Lagos yesterday, where representatives of the groups commended the governor’s leadership style and achievements. They noted that his administration’s policies have brought progress to Ekiti and fostered unity among Yoruba-speaking states.
Leaders present at the meeting included Adewale Adeoye, Popoola Ajayi, Rasak Arogundade, and Wasiu Afolabi. They said Oyebanji’s performance in office had made the Yoruba proud and that his re-election would further strengthen the push for development and regional cooperation.
