The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won all chairmanship and councillorship positions in the 30 local government areas of Osun State, according to the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) Chairman, Hashim Abioye.
Speaking at a press conference over the weekend, Abioye described the election as peaceful and well-conducted, dismissing concerns earlier raised by the Nigerian Police Force (NPF). However, he acknowledged delays in some polling units due to the arrest of OSIEC officials, despite the absence of any court order authorising their detention.
The OSIEC chairman further apologised to journalists for the lack of accreditation tags and jackets, attributing the issue to the police sealing off the commission’s office before the election.
