Poultry farmers in Igbemo Ekiti have received a significant boost through the FADAMA Phase II Empowerment Programme facilitated by Rt. Hon. Hakeem Jamiu, the lawmaker representing Irepodun/Ifelodun Constituency II in the Ekiti State House of Assembly.
Sixteen beneficiaries were each provided with 25 birds and a bag of chicken feed to enhance their poultry businesses, contributing to grassroots economic development and food security in the state. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Rt. Hon. Jamiu for facilitating their registration as a cooperative, which qualified them for the empowerment initiative. They also praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his administration’s consistent support of farmers across various sectors.
This phase follows last week’s distribution of items such as grinding machines, knapsack sprayers, and rain boots to another group of beneficiaries under the same programme.Rt. Hon. Jamiu encouraged the recipients to nurture their birds into full-grown chickens and explore opportunities to expand their businesses. He further acknowledged the Oyebanji administration’s dedication to advancing agriculture and improving food production through the FADAMA programme. The next phase, slated for early next year, will provide farmers with various seedlings during the planting season to further bolster agricultural productivity in Ekiti State.
