Presidency Disclaims 2027 Campaign Billboards, Warns Against Electoral Law Violation

The Presidency has distanced itself from several campaign billboards promoting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing such actions as premature and a clear violation of Nigeria’s electoral laws.

In a statement released on Sunday, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, expressed concern over the emergence of these billboards in major cities such as Abuja and Kano, featuring images of the President and his deputy.

Onanuga noted that while President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima are grateful for the unwavering support of loyal followers across the country, neither of them endorses any form of political campaign that contravenes the laws governing the nation’s electoral process.

The Presidency emphasised the need for strict adherence to the Electoral Act, warning individuals or groups behind the unauthorised billboards to desist from actions that could attract legal consequences.
