President Tinubu Establishes Committee to Curb Tanker Explosions

In response to the alarming number of lives lost to tanker explosions, President Bola Tinubu has established a high-powered committee aimed at preventing future incidents. Since September 2024, tanker explosions have claimed 265 lives, prompting urgent action from the presidency.

This decision comes in the wake of a tragic explosion at Dikko Junction, Niger State, which resulted in the death of 88 individuals on Saturday night. The president expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended his condolences to the victims’ families.

President Tinubu has directed relevant security agencies and road safety authorities to collaborate and implement measures to prevent such tragedies. The committee’s mandate is to ensure the safety of citizens and to address the recurring issue of tanker explosions across the country.
