Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, has defended his clash with former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, during a Senate hearing on a fresh petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The confrontation occurred at the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, where Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan had submitted a petition. Tensions escalated when the petitioner, Zubairu Yakubu, urged Committee Chairman Neda Imasuen to step down, citing concerns over his handling of the sexual harassment allegations against Akpabio.
Ezekwesili, who attended the hearing alongside legal counsel Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, engaged in a heated exchange with Nwaebonyi over the matter. The senator later justified his reaction, insisting that his intervention was necessary to maintain order during the proceedings.
