The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a lawsuit against Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the six-month suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing the action as “patently unlawful.”
Filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, the suit seeks to overturn the suspension, which SERAP argues violates the senator’s fundamental rights and deprives her constituents of legitimate representation. The rights group had earlier urged Akpabio to reverse the decision or face legal action.
The latest development was disclosed in a Sunday press release by SERAP’s Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, titled “SERAP sues Akpabio over failure to reverse the unlawful suspension of Natasha Akpoti.”
