SERAP Urges Tinubu to Probe Missing N26 Billion in Petroleum Sector

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to direct the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, and relevant anti-corruption agencies to investigate allegations of missing, diverted, or stolen public funds amounting to N26 billion in the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) and the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

The allegations were detailed in the 2021 audited report published on November 13, 2024, by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation. SERAP emphasised the need for accountability, urging that anyone found culpable should be prosecuted if sufficient evidence is available. The organisation also demanded that all missing funds be recovered and remitted to the treasury to ensure transparency and responsible governance.
