Tinubu Condemns Plateau Killings, Urges End to Communal Violence

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent wave of violence in Plateau State, calling on the state government to urgently devise a lasting solution to the persistent communal clashes.

This follows another deadly attack in the early hours of Sunday in Zikke and Kakpa communities, Bassa Local Government Area, where gunmen killed at least 51 people and injured many others. The tragic incident comes barely two weeks after similar attacks in other parts of the state claimed several lives.

President Tinubu described the killings as “unacceptable” and expressed deep concern over the recurring bloodshed. He stressed that peace and stability in Plateau State must be prioritised by the state’s leadership.

Just last week, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reported that at least 52 people were killed and nearly 2,000 displaced following a series of coordinated attacks across the region.

Plateau has long been a flashpoint for violent conflict, often rooted in disputes between farmers and cattle herders, with thousands of lives lost over the years. The President urged traditional leaders, community stakeholders, and security agencies to collaborate in restoring peace and fostering dialogue among aggrieved communities.
